September Check In | Life & Real Estate in Pensacola
How can it be September already? We took a fabulous trip to Wyoming (more on that later) and when we got back, I jumped right back into business. I added six listings to the market and got eight people under contract to sell or purchase a home.
Don’t listen to what the media is telling you — the market is strong if you have the right person guiding you.
September is already shaping up to be the best and busiest month of my career, but I’m hoping to enjoy the fall transition with some dinners with friends and celebrating my birthday in the meantime.

And I got to spend time with my 104-year-old neighbor, whom I absolutely adore.

Evidence of Success: Selling “The Turtle House” in North Hill

This closing was especially personal. I had the honor of selling my childhood home, a North Hill home built in 1911, for the family who purchased it from my parents 33 years ago.
Chad and I helped coordinate an estate sale, connected the owners with contractors for pre-listing electrical updates and inspection repairs, and worked through which repairs were necessary and acceptable to everyone.
The buyers’ purchase was contingent on selling their historic home in New York, where attorneys control the closing process. Dates changed repeatedly, new requirements appeared during closing week — twice — and answers were often difficult to get.
The stress was real for everyone, but we kept communicating, negotiating and extending until every piece came together.
On closing day, the Lindseys were finally able to move into their next chapter and hand the care of “The Turtle House” to another sweet family, ready to raise a new generation inside her walls and add their own laughter, memories and stories to the many she already holds.

Another listing where I used Zillow preview as part of my strategy, and I had inquiries right out of the gate.
This one was extra fun because I contacted agents with other homes listed in North Hill and put together an event. We hosted a four-house open house with light bites and drinks served at each home, marketing the properties in multiple locations and cross-marketing with other Realtors.
When you choose to list with me, I’m always looking for ways to maximize exposure and get a property sold.

A Letter From the Heart: Our Wyoming Adventure
Some friends don’t just invite you on vacation — they invite you into stories you’ll tell for the rest of your life.
A few years ago, Gary and Nikki Lerille welcomed Chad and me aboard their 41-foot Tartan for ten days of sailing from Puerto Rico, where I was born, to St. Thomas and the small islands in between. The following year, we joined them again for 16 days sailing through the Exumas.
Since then, they’ve sold the boat, converted a school bus into a camper and taken their adventures to dry land. A few weeks ago, we met them in Wyoming — and yes, Chad and I actually took an entire week off work!
We camped, hiked and crossed freezing rivers in the early-morning hours. We saw the Tetons and Yellowstone, along with moose, elk and bison. Chad fly-fished some spectacular creeks and rivers and caught his first cutthroat trout.
Chad and Gary fixed things, as they always seem to do on these trips. We bathed in the river, stayed up far too late talking, laughing and drinking, and I learned something important about myself: I can, in fact, poop in the woods. And I can’t wait to go camping again.
Just as our sailing trips were, this was an epic adventure with two of our closest friends. Gary and Nikki, thank you for including us once again, for sharing the places you discover and for giving us another collection of stories we’ll still be talking about years from now. We are so grateful for you both.

Recipe of the Month: Mary Lou’s French Toast
One of my friends — a former high-school chemistry teacher — makes homemade vanilla syrup, and the secret ingredient is here!
How to Make It
Whisk together farm-fresh eggs, about one egg per slice of bread, with half-and-half and a splash of vanilla.
Dip day-old bread or a nice thick bread like brioche and fry until golden.

A Glimpse of September
I turned 51 on September 11, so I’ve been in celebration mode! I’ve got some dinners planned with dear friends, another stunning historic home in North Hill coming soon, and I’m hoping to get my swim in the Gulf before it gets too cold.
